Re: Hypothyroid - Is this Hell>? HELP please. Too tired to keep reading..
my dr wont give me anything unless i come in so they let me come in tomorrow morning at 9:30.. so i better make this count
should i ask for cytomel to go with a low dose of tirosint or will tirosint be enough on its own or should i go with a natural like naturthroid with cytomel?
in the past she has given me prescriptions i have asked for so im sure she will let me try just about whatever i ask her for..
is tirosint the best option? for all my symptoms i mean... i just wana feel better soon~!
and what lab tests should i tell her to order? and how soon?
Re: Hypothyroid - Is this Hell>? HELP please. Too tired to keep reading..
first of all hugs.
I completely understand you want to feel better soon and sure hope you feel better soon, yet please do keep in mind that unfortunately there is no quick fix. the meds titrating process will take time, during the process ups and downs are to be expected, but do keep in mind that it's all part of the road to wellness and things will get better.
There is no telling at this stage whether T4 medication alone will be sufficient. considering the fact that you reacted on T4 medication alone andit's the standard treatment, I think I'd start with that and see where that bring you.T3 medication can be added if your FT3 remains low in relation to FT4 (that will become clear in the meds titrating process), yet since not everybody needs nor benefits from it, I would not start with that yet.
Although I cannot predict whether you eventually will need to add T3 to the mix, I do know T3 (cytomel alone) or naturoid (which contains T4 + T3) + T3 sure is not a good option.
when it concerns T4 , I'd go for Tirosint (although I have no experience with it myself since it's not available over here), since as far as I know no allergy factors and stuff might come into play.
the relevant labs are TSH, FT4 and FT3 (one wants to make sure to have the free levels done and not total or whatever). retesting should be done after 6 weeks, yet since you're gonna build up in steps (smaller dosage and increase after 2 weeks), 6 weeks would be from the last adjustment.

Hi,
Sorry you're feeling upset. But, possibly you're expecting a bit much of a message board.
It seems to me that the message board is mainly a question & answer forum. In the last 5 posts you've made there has only been one obvious question. And about 1 1/2 hours after you posted it you posted another superceding it (which implied that you no longer needed the question answered).
For a post to be answered, someone who (a) knows that answer & (b) has enough time/energy to log in (& remember everyone is here from thryoid stuff, so is likely to be tired) has to read it. A few hours or even a day isn't always long enough -- so it's really not appropriate for urgent things (more of long-term, where should I go from here, kind of questions)
(I feel it's okay to say this, because the last post I made where I commented on how I was feeling no-one responded to either. I think this was possibly because there wasn't anything useful that anyone could say to me.)
For the record, I don't have a good answer to either your last explicit (is it okay to take at night?), or implicit (are these symptoms normal shortly after taking my new dose?) questions. So there was no point my putting up a post trying to answer them.
