Switching from Levoxyl to NP Thyroid Dose Question
I am currently on 50mcg of Levoxyl. My TSH is running around 4.18 and my FT3 and FT4 are at the bottom of the range. (I don't have my labs here but can post them later).
My doctor has agreed to let me try the NP Thyroid and has given me a starting dose of 1.5 grains.
I'm concerned that this is too high to start with. I am to take .5 of a grain 3 times a day.
Re: Switching from Levoxyl to NP Thyroid Dose Question
Yes that would be quite a high dose. If I was in your position I would cut my T4 dose to 25 and add ½ a grain. Then after a week or two (depending on how I felt) quit T4, increase my NTH dose to 1 grain and see how that would work.

Re: Switching from Levoxyl to NP Thyroid Dose Question
Thank You! I didn't even think about tapering off the T4.
I can see the doctors point because she would have increased my T4 if I didn't switch over to the NTH. But it seemed to me to be quite a jump since I haven't had any T3 in my meds.
One more question. Would you suggest that once I get to the 1 grain mark that I stay on that for 4 - 6 weeks and get my bloodwork done? Maybe I shouldn't try and get to the 1.5grain until I see how my bloodwork is after the 1 grain.
Thank you for your help!
