high reverse t3, going on nature thyroid
Hi all,
Just got my blood work back, have a high reverse t3 434pg/ml, and a free t3 to reverse t3 of 8. My dr prescribed natures thyroid which is t3 and t4. Ive been trying to gather info and I have read that t3 only is best for high reverse t3. Does anybody know if that is true? I have been laid off and stressed out for quite some time, I personally think this is contributing. Once I calm down, will I be able to stop taking the medication or is this for life?

1. Reverse T3 will go down to normal if you are taking T3 plus T4, providing you are not taking excessive doses of T3 and T4. It worked for me.
2. If your thyroid is not naturally producing enough T3 and T4, then you are going to have to take thyroid meds for life.

Cannot make any other comment without more info regarding your history, what doses you take, your labs, etc...

my reverse t3 5 days after starting synthroid 25mcg was:

369 (90-350)

my latest labs mid december

tsh 0.69 (0.3-3)
free t3 3.75 (2.5-3.9)
free t4 0.81 (0.58-1.64)

--should i have been on t3/t4 or straight t3 to begin with?
-- my tsh and free t4 went down, and my free t3 went up!
