Ok made it by the doctor's office this morning to pick up my lab results.
Some background first. On 50 mcg prior to surgery of synthroid. July 5th last year had 1/2 thyroid removed for nodule (turned out to be rare birth defect not cancer). In the past 6 months my dose has been creeping up and about 7 or so weeks ago it was increased to 100 mcg.
Then I got THESE results:

TSH -- 3.46 UIU/ML (range 0.36 - 3.74)
Total T3 -- 110 ng/dL (range 76 - 181)
Free T4 -- 1.22 ng/dL (range 0.70 - 1.50)

Now keep in mind I am still gaining weight like crazy dispite cutting calories and doing 20-40 minutes of cardio a night. My eye lids are so dry I look like 20 years older than I am and my arms so so dry that even the prescription lotion is not working.

So she let me start Armour today (dose of 90).

So any incite on my numbers?
And why would she order a Total T3 instead of a FREE T3?

The labs are not ideal. Coupled with your symptoms, it's clear some changes needed to be made. Congrats on having a smart MD who let you try Armour.

The free T3 would've been better. Doctors order the total T3 either (A) to save the insurance company money or (B) because they think it's the better test. No matter for you. You seem to have a good MD willing to work with you. That's more than half the battle.

Hope the Armour is the answer for you.

I know from reading posts on here (where I found out about Armour) that Doc's are usually resistant to prescribing it.
