Please Help Concerned New Labs TSH Level Flucuated alot. Why
 

I am a 42 YO female. I was feeling really run down with no energy, I had gained 26 lbs in 6 months. My cycle was very erratic, terrible cramps and headaches, very dry skin and my hair started to fall out. I was just not myself anymore. Went to the Dr and they said all of my symptoms seemed to be my Thyroid so on 01/03/2013 we did a TSH lab. The result was TSH=4.88 and the Dr said I had an overactive Thyroid and wanted to start synthroid. I wanted to be certain so on 01/10/2013 they ran a full panel and the results came in with T3 Uptake=30 T4 (Thyroxine), Total =10.2 and Free T4 Index (T7)=3.1 but this time my
TSH =1.77. Why would it fluctuate so much in 7 days? Dr says now there is nothing to worry about but I still feel the same, Miserable. Should I still be concerned>

Yeah, TSH 4.88 would definitely be hypo and it would not be normal for TSH to swing that much in a week. And the tests your doc ran are not the most helpful in assessing thyroid function.

See if you can go back again in a few weeks and get TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 tests.
