| After Hemithyroidectomy...
After finding a large (3cm) completely calcified nodule in my left thyroid, and having hypofunctioning results the endo decided it was time to talk to a surgeon. There are two very small cysts in my right side as well. The surgeon decided to remove the left side only. I was very happy it was not cancer ( lots of family history).
It was filled with a pus like substance, and there was evidence of long term chronic thyroiditis, hemosidirin, and necrotic tissue around the nodule. I've been started on 50mcg of levothyroxin a day.
Just wondering what to expect. I feel worse now then before I had the surgery. Prickly tingling in my feet and fingers, no internal temperature control, bowel problems, etc...
I've been told it will take awhile for the meds to get regulated. Anyone else feel worse after surgery in stead of better?
Thanks,
