| Thyroid? Please help
Hi,
I am new here and feeling pretty desperate. ANY guidance would be very much appreciated. I am from the UK so these scores might have slightly different interpretations, but i am guessing that you might recognise these symptoms. I am 36, have 2 little kids and feel increasingly awful with no genuine help from GPs. I have just decided to see an endocrinologist but this is going to be really, really exprensiver (£150+) but i just can't go on like this.
I have seen my GP loads of times so far the only thing that seems to show up is slightly low ferritin levels (17, apparently normal is 10 -291) my TSH is 2.5, my T4 was 17.3, which is all they tested. An ultrasound was normal and oestrogen, FSH and LH were apparently 'satisfactory'.
I have menstrual problems - VERY heavy bleeding, cycles from anything of 32 days to 12days, when previously i was regular as clockwork and never very heavy. I have large clots, midcycle bleeding and occasional midcycle clotting. I am exhausted, depressed, irritable and have poor concentration. I am always cold with an average body temperature (I have been testing myself) of around 35.8 degrees. I have low blood pressure too. I get awful night sweats at certain times as well as periodic insomnia (never before heard of for me!) breast pain, spots and weight gain unless i drastically undereat).
My GP said 'it's probably hormonal' and has offered anti-depressants, the pill or novasure (to remove the endometrial lining). I am not happy with any of these as she actually can't tell me what the matter is. It sounds like underactive thyroid to me, and there is a history of this with my aunt and cousin, but as the tests seem 'ok' they are not interested. There is no history of early menopause either, as i thought it might be that, but they are not intersted in this either.
I am really feeling unable to cope and struggling with my kids, work and jst trying to get through the day. I feel like no one is listening and am worried about the endocrinologist doing just the same (for a heafty fee)...Please help,
Thank you xxxxx
