i have seen most papers associate numbness and stiffness and tingling and weakness and pain in body ( legs/hands/face/mouth etc.) with Hypothyroid condition. Do these things happen in Hyperthyroid situation too? If yes, why they are not often reported in the key symptoms, whereas they have been mentioned in the Hypothyroid condition?
I started having pain in May 2012 in both my hands. It was diagnosed as tendinitis. I got better in July, but immediately i had pain and numbness and tingling and they diagnosed it with Carpal tunnel. I used braced for 3 months and waited in pain for months. I went to physiotherapy several times too. My pain got better but it never went away. In December, I got really frustrated of pain and by the way my GP was treating me as he was not giving me the referral. I got really nervous all over new year. In early Jan, I started having tingling in my left leg, mainly around shin area. It got more during Jan and moved to my foot too. In late Feb, one night I got up with so much numbness in both my legs, and I had trouble walking to bathroom. I felt my legs are so weightless and not mine. I had problems in walking too, and keeping the balance was difficult. For a week, I had weird feelings - Like electric wire and shock in my body, face. mouth, my head got so heavy and stiff, both my feet and legs, .. My hands pain became more, a different type of pain also was added. I changed my GP as he was still refusing to give me referral. I did nerve conduction for my hands/ ultra sound for CT. Both were normal indicating I don't have CT! I had blood test - it showed i had hyperthyroid which was weird. I know I never had it. I think this condition was because of the nervousness that I had in Dec and Jan because of my GP and my life conditions. i had little flu too, so doctor said maybe HT is because of flu. So I had another test today to see if it is still persistent. I also met a neurologist and will have MRI and some other tests too to check for neurological issues. I am very very tired. I used to be always like a powerhouse. It sounds like whatever it is , it is an autoimmune issue, but which one we still don't know
! I d like to add that 10 years ago, I did some blood test for my hormones due to irregular periods. The only weird thing was that i had very high prolactin hormones. I did MRI on that time to see if there is a problem in my brain, but nothing came out of it. I read that prolactin is linked to autoimmune diseases.
any idea? any similar experience?
* I remember these one by one
! 14 months ago, i got a sore knee and in one day very swollen knee/tight in my right or no special reason. i thought i had bumped it somewhere. it took 3 months to go away. and i was not yet fine with knee that my hand problems started.
