Help please!

I have a few questions. I have had a lump in my neck for about 4 yrs. Had different doctors tell me different things about it. They would do lab work for thyroid and all would come back normal. Now the past few weeks I have had labs, sonogram and an uptake scan. Here are the results.

Sonogram: Findings
The right thyroid lobe is 4.9 x 2.3 x
2.6 cm.
Left thyroid lobe is 5.0 x 1.4 x 1.7 cm.
The right thyroid lobe demonstrated a
vascular mass measuring 3.1 x 1.8 by
3.7
cm which is vascular and mostly solid
and somewhat heterogeneous.
The left thyroid lobe demonstrates no
obvious solid mass. There is a 1 cm
simple cyst of the left thyroid lobe.
Impression
Multinodular thyroid gland with a
dominant solid mass of the right
thyroid
lobe. Neoplasia cannot be excluded.

Uptake scan: NM Thyroid Uptake/Scan
Single or Multiple
Uptakes
Nuclear medicine thyroid scan and
uptake:
History: Goiter.
Technique: 437 uCi I-123 capsules
were administered and a nuclear
medicine
thyroid scan was performed. Six hour
uptake was obtained as well.
Findings: Six hour uptake is 15.4%
which is within the normal range of
5% -
17%. The large cold nodule is found
in the right upper pole. Otherwise
normal thyroid tracer activity.
Impression:
Normal six hour uptake at 15.4%.
Large cold nodule in the right upper
pole correlating with the ultrasound
dated 03/05/2013. Suggest biopsy.

Sounds like everything is ok except the cold nodule right?

Yeah probably, though probably should have had the biopsy first, and skipped the uptake scan if your TSH is normal.

Re: Help please!

I was just doing what the doctor ordered. My THS was 1.710
T4 - 10.3
T3 - 30%
Free thyroxine index - 3.1

Those are good right?

You didn't post ranges but TSH of 1.75 is pretty normal. So if you feel okay, more or less, then yes. Everything I've read is for the most part nodules don't cause problems with thyroid hormones.

You should get a biopsy as suggested.

PS: The biopsy is not a big deal.

There's no way to know if they're good, because that's an outdated, inaccurate, and all-around useless set of tests.

If you really want to know your thyroid status, you must have the tests to directly measure your levels of free T4 and free T3. Thyroid antibodies, both TPO and Tg, would also be helpful to see whether autoimmune thyroiditis is causing your nodules.
