med change

Hello all,
Have been on levoxyl for eight years and now the FDA has pulled it. My doctor has put me on Tirosint. Has anyone been on this medication and if so has it worked well? Synthroid gives me horrible headaches and hair loss. Thanks and well wishes to everyone.

hello

I havent switched to this , but did stumble upon a post somewhere else where some people reported that they needed a smaller dose of the tirosint bc it was aborbed more readily/easily due to the fact that it has hadly any fillers besides the hormone. Something worth talking to your Doc about or at least just keeping an eye on Otherwise it seems the lack of bad reaction is rare bc it has hardly anything to be allergic to in it (just hormone and glycerine and mabe one other thing)

Are you saying we can't get levoxyl now?

Re: med change

Yes. Go to the website there has been a recall Won't be available again until 2014 or even 2015. They said something about it not smelling right (and think its the packaging but have to take precautions). I was disappointed bc I was going to ask for it instead of synthroid since it doesn't have lactose as a filler

Re: med change

Thank you for the response. This med gives me headaches as well. The nurse said to give it about a month and I can get my blood work to check my levels. My levoxyl never had an odor but maybe wasn't working either. If you look up FDA recalls it will explain the recall info. I was shocked because my doctor never mentioned it. I found out when I tried to fill my monthly prescription. Good luck to everyone and thanks again.
