Referred pain in core/trunk of body - is this TMJ?

Hi folks. I have had TMJ for over 20 years now. It will sometimes be dormant for months, then hit me everyday for weeks.

I have Googled this but not really found anything. I will get pain on either (or both) side of my jaw, but accompanying that is intense pain that can be in all sorts of places in my core - it feels like it's in the middle of my body - upper and mid section of my core - difficult to pinpoint. It's intense sort of shooting pain and directly coincides with the pain in my jaw. It's like nerve pain - that's the best way to describe it. Radiating, intense nerve pain that isn't really at any specific spot I can pinpoint - from my back to my front and in the center of both. The only thing that helps it is pain killers - 2 advils usually kicks it - unless it's really intense, then the advil does nothing.

I've had the jaw pain without this core pain (rarely), but never the core pain without the jaw pain. All the Googling I've done references shoulders and back - but not lower, more centered pain. Can TMJ cause referred pain like this?
