| how do you handle the pain from tmj? how long can u have lock jaw before surgery?
hi i was diagnosed with tmj 4 days ago. But I've been having pain now severe pain, cracking and popping that hurts when you close ur jaw back for about 4 weeks. And now today my jaw licked twice 1st was able to get it to olden a little bit after 4 hrs of heating pads n ice packs alternating them and messaging my jaw constantly, but just a few hours ago it went back to being locked n i cant get it to olden at all. I went to the hospital unable to open my mouth at all and severe severe pain writing everything down n the dang nurse got aggravated with me n looked at me and said you wpad just in here a few days ago where we told you what was causing the pain and we can't do anything for your pain now or your jaw being locked.
So my questions are: How do you handle the pain getting worse n no over them counter meds help? How do you deal with the pain while your jaw is locked? Do i need yo go to the hospital when my jaw locks up really tight? What are they going to do about it locking up or will the Drs do anything? And lastly i read you might have to have surgery if your jaw locks; how long will the Dr let your jaw be locked before surgery?
