Post Burning scalp...

This is a new one for me. Does anyone out there have a place on your head where your scalp is burning? I have a place on top of my head where it hurts to touch my hair but this is in the back and is a larger area. It doesn't hurt to touch but just burns! What do I do for this one. I don't like ice..it doesn't help my headaches or jaw pain. I guess it's back to my trusty heating pad. I can warm up the surrounding area and make it all the same.lol I'm glad I have an appt on Mon. Thanks for any input. --Michelle http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif

MM,
I've had burning pain all over my head. I always feel like I have bruises on the top of my head. This has been going on for years. I've been told by all kinds of Drs. that it's muscle spasms. Muscle spasms in your face and neck will compress nerves and cause this kind of sensation or pain.
Elaine & Crystal made a post of some very informative information regarding muscle spasms, nerve involvement, etc. They answered a lot of questions for me.
I think it's the topic where I ask them for more info.
(Massage therapy has helped me with this problem. She is trained in TMJD and has personal experience with it.)
I know it is a scary feeling, but in my case, it's just muscles pulling on everything they can to cause me misery.
Hope this helps,
Cymy Sue

MM,
There is more info on Elaine's topic of "Pterygoid Muscles".
I had read this post and then ask them for more info, so I was a little confused about where the information was. However, being a little confused is also normal,
I think.
Hopes for a good day,
Cymy Sue

mm, I also have tmj,I went through the burning head, tingling and other weird sensations........to make a long story short the end result was finding a good chiropractor that can deal with tmj.....no more tingling or burning......all the muscles get taunt and very tight so they must then put pressure on nerves.......I get adjusted at least once a month and the jaw does not go out tat often anymore.......be real careful about chewing anything hard, that tends to through the jaw out....just my experience, good luck
