i have to vent - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

IT'S NOT FAIR! WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME! I'M ONLY 15, I'M STILL A KID, BUT I DONT GET TO ACT LIKE IT TOO MUCH BECAUSE I'M IN PAIN SO FREQUENTLY. I'VE TRIED PHYSICAL THERAPY, ICE, HEAT, ORTHOTIC, PAIN MEDICATIONS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? MY FRIENDS ALL COME TO ME AND THEY'RE SO HAPPY, WHY CAN'T I BE TOO? SOMETIMES THE PAIN IS SO BAD THAT THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS GO IN MY ROOM AND JUST CRY, BECAUSE IT IS UNBEARABLE. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD IT FOR A YEAR YET AND IT HAS ALREADY RUINED MY LIFE SO MUCH. AND I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY, IT WILL GET BETTER. BECAUSE THAT DOESN'T HELP. BECAUSE ITS NOT BETTER. HOW LONG AM I GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS FOR? AND I KNOW PEOPLE HAVE MUCH WORSE THAN ME, BUT WHEN PEOPLE ALSO SAY "IT COULD BE WORSE". THAT'S CRAP. I MEAN I KNOW IT COULD BE MUCH WORSE, BUT DONT YOU THINK THIS IS BAD ENOUGH!!!

sorry i just had to vent a little, now that my pain came back

I sure know how you feel and I vent plenty on this board. It's a good place to do that since the people on here understand. Nobody can say for sure how long you will have TMJ and the pain. I have been looking for help for 23 years now so I know exactly what you are saying. I rarely smile or laugh anymore and I have no interest in anything but getting out of pain and anybody who have never suffered with TMJ can understand just exactly how much pain we are in. So, feel free to vent on these boards anytime you need to. I sure do. Hang in there.

You have my sympathy .... but that never helps much for long.

What you need is an excellent TMJD specialist.

I had my first TMJ problem when I was 15 ... but after physical therapy, changes in diet and a splint I was able to become pain free for 8 years, so there is hope. The trick is just finding the right person to treat you.

I've now had a replapse in TMJ ... but I was doing fine for years. But it takes time and a lot of work on your part to overcome this issue.

But it is possible. I always like to believe that every challenge we facein life is meant to teach us a life lesson. My lesson with my recent reoccurance of TMJ is that I need to learn to relax. And I need ot be better at seeking medical treatment before I get to the point where I am no longer functioning.

Anyway, just know that TMJ issues can be fixed .. you just need to find the treatment that works for you.

Well yeah that makes sense except of course for the fact that none of the treatment is working for me!!
