Angry I AM SO FED UP WITH DOCTORS!

Hi Everyone,

Those of you that know me, know I have had so much trouble finding any relief and finding a dam doctor to listen to me!

I thought once I finally got the insurance that is would be alot easier to find someone I can go to that could help me!

I went and saw an Oral Surgeon last week and all he wanted to do is give me surgery, I havent even had the MRI yet and he is rushing me to get in OR. He said a lot of things that upset me,I ask him about other treatments first, and he said " see my jacket, he pointed to it and it say surgeon, this is what I do" I cant help you in less you want surgery! The only good thing out of the appointment was I got a request for an MRI.

Since I have a HMO I had to take it to my doctor,(I didnt have one assign to me, long story, had to cuss out member servies just to get a doctor assign to me now & see the nero, I was on a waiting list that was going to take months) I got the request from my doctor but it could take months

I went and saw the nerorlgest(sp) yesterday and he also upset me, he said the only thing left for me to try to help my headaches it BOTOX injections, has anyone every try this before? I cant stand these headaches, I am finally on medication, but still in pain. I am just glad I have something to help.

I really hate being young, doctors dont want to listen to me or believe me when I explain how I am feeling, and how bad my pain is. I have heard this so many times, over & over again, your to young to be on all these medications, you need to stop everyone and your pain will go away, thats a bunch of bull! That why I was so additted to over the counter junk forever, I wasnt taking it for the hell of it.
I am in pain and theses doctors think because I am young, it is stress or I am depressed! Yes I am stress, yes I am depresed, because I am in horrible pain and knowone will listen or take the time to care!

I really dont understand why knowone wants to help me, doctors are suppose to help us not hurt us, I am so fed up and sad and angery. Sorry you guys I really needed to vent, your guys are the only people that understand!

Take care,

Starr

Hi Starr,
I'm so terribly sorry you're having so much trouble with Doctors. I had hoped when you got insurance, you would find help. You will, you just have to keep trying. I know how discouraging & frustrating this is for you. You know a lot of us have been down this same road and a lot of times, Doctors are our worst enemies.
I wish you lived close to someone on the board who has finally found one of the "GOOD GUYS". There are some good Dentist & Doctors out there who are learning to treat TMJD and who do understand the pain & problems.

It appears now, that a lot of Dentists understand the problem better and are learning to treat most of the problems, usually with splints. PT and Massage Therapy, along with medication until you can get some relief, will work. It does take time and money.

Most of us feel like we've already spent an eternity looking for help and money we don't have, but never give up hope.

Help could be around the next corner or as in my case, my very own Dentist.

When I was at the lowest that I had been in years, I started asking everybody I knew, every Doctor I went to, for other problems (even my GYN), and after reading the posts on this board, I went to my Dentist and ask if he could do anything. He said "yes", he thought he could. I had no idea what he had been doing in reseaching and treating TMJD.

Please stay hopeful, don't let the "Bad Guys" get to you. They are more frustrated than you are and don't have the ...., what it takes to tell you they don't know how to help, so they tell you, it's all in your head, it's stress, it's anxiety, and so on.

What you have is very real. It's one of the hardest chronic problems to deal with. It's one of the most misunderstood ailments by the Medical Community and by people who don't have it.

Please keep trying, you will find someone to listen & help,

Cymy Sue

Hey Starr,

This is probably a stupid question, but my doc had a book with OFS in it and I found one in Upland, CA...the practice is called Gilbert, Hicke and Holton. Don't know if they're good or bad, just saw that they were listed as a practice that treats TMJ....

Just thought I'd pass the info along....
Good luck and try to smile a little....

Talking

Hi mbr,

I have a 20 pounder, too. He's not fat, he's just big.
He does tricks for me when I'm feeling really bad. He's so funny, sometimes it actually helps.
