Unhappy I'm New and have a question

I was told about a year ago I have TMJ I have been having my chiropractor adjust my jaw and getting massage therapy 2 times a month but my bite is getting worse and I get drop jaw. My jaw will just hang open and this even happens when I sleep. I was wondering if anyone else has their jaw drop and what treatment have you gotten. I was wondering if the dentist/surgeon will put brackets on my teeth with rubberbands to hold my mouth closed. I look stupid with my jaw hanging open and it gets worse with the more talking I do and I am sick of holding my mouth closed by leaning on my hand. My bite has gotten to the point I can not get my back teeth to touch at all on my right side even if I try real hard. I am so sick of this but I haven't had the $$ to go to the dr. Now thanks to a tax return I do but what am I in for?

do a search for the american academy for cranial facial pain and find a specialist in tmj in your area.--not someone who handles it part-time.

chiro, massage, trigger point, many different things
can help in my opinion when used in conjuction with
a dentist that is training or has been trained in
this very complicated field of care.

Hey Janice!!!
Welcome to the board. i have exactly the opposite of you, I can't get my mouth to stay open for any amount of time. Is it painful when it stays open? Have you gotten x-rays done?
