Post Ethyl Chloride

Has anyone tried using this? It's a spray that you spray on your jaw and it numbs the area for a little while. I went to a doctor who sprayed it on my face and it did help reduce the pain a little that day, but I read online that it's harmful, can change the color of your skin, and can cause cancer. it's a vapocoolant. they use it in refrigerators.
let me know if you know anything about it.
thanks,
-Stacie

Stacie,

I believe they use vapocoolant to "spray and stretch" your jaw. It's meant to numb the muscles while producing the stretch. I don't believe it's meant to be used on a daily basis.

Hi Crystal,
thanks for replying. The doctor told me he could give me a prescription and that I could use it every day to numb the pain, like when I get home at the end of the day. I was so excited because it was the first time in a long time that my jaw didn't hurt as much. Now, a few days later, the pain is excruciating again but it helped for a day or two. I'd never heard another doctor mention it. so, you're saying it's not something that is used for treatment? The doctor said they use it in physical therapy.
thanks,
-Stacie
