Post PT or Dentist?
My insurance will cover a TMJ consulation and then will cover further treatment if the doctor can prove why it would be medically necessary. Well there are no "TMJ doctors" specifically listed. Should I make an appt. with a physical therapist or a dentist that specializes in TMJ as I have to choose one to start. Thanks.

Hi there!

You are trying to figure out which Dr. to go first? Well, if I were you, I would definitely go to a TMJD dentist first and then he may refer you to a PT. You got to find out first if your problem is really in your jaw/joints. If you can't find a good TMJD dentist in your area, how about looking on the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain website at [url="http://www.aacfp.org"]www.aacfp.org[/url] to find one near you?
