Hi Tiffany!
I AM still here. For some reason my internet provider shuts me out from time to time. It is frustrating to be in a thread on the Board and not be able to post!
Had a root canal this week on a lower tooth, so life could be better, but it could be worse too!
My orthodontist is trying to find a way to "finish" the job - with bite on one side Class I (normal) and the other side Class II due to the joint being out of place. I don't know what he's thinking!! I really just need to ask him to take the blasted things off and let my jaw recover, but then he would put it in his records that it was MY idea and could say that he opposed the idea, etc.
How are things going with you? Feeling better?

Hi Sue:
Whatever you do, don't suggest to your orthodontist that he remove your braces because you are right he will then use that as a reason to not finish treating you and you will have nothing to fall back on. They are looking for a reason to get out of doing what they are paid for. So, put up with his ideas and then you can say you did all that he suggested. It's the best way to go. I am still hurting but I have begun my search for someone to treat me with splint therapy. I had my MRI done last Sunday so that is out of the way. I am sure glad for that. It was a miserable experience.
I hope you get your braces off soon and your jaw is better.
Tiffany
Tiffany, thanks for your support. You are right, he is looking for some way out. I think he realizes that he is in way over his head. I plan to stick it out and hope that he doesn't cause too much damage treating something he doesn't know about. ugh.
I am sorry that you had a bad experience with the MRI. I know it is a lengthy procedure. Did you have to hold your mouth open or what? My only experience with MRIs is when our daughter had one after a sports injury.
I hope you find a good specialist and are feeling better soon!
