Question Occlusal orthotic device

Hi Everyone:
The occlusal orthotic device is the type of splint the orthodontist I saw yesterday is going to use for me. Are any of you using the occlusal orthotic device now or have you in the past, if so, what was your success with it. Thanks everyone.

Hi Tiffany!
You know, that sure does sound like my orthoic. My nuero dentist calls it an orthoic, and as you know, I just love mine. Mine is clear, goes across ALL of my lower teeth, it has 3 little metal things that help keep it in position.
Okay, did I really answer that question?
Have a great day!
Diane

Tiffany, My dentist just calls mine an occlusal splint but I am pretty sure it is the same thing. It goes across all my bottom teeth and keeps me biting even on the back teeth. Mine is set up so that the front teeth do not hit though. Is that how yours will be? Shell

Hi Diane:
I'm not sure if the splint this orthodontist is going to make for me has 3 little things to help keep it in place or not but it certainly sounds like yours is the same one I will be getting. Is your splint still really comfortable? I sure pray that mine works out as well as yours had. That would be so great. Did you have to wait for your splint because your dentist send your splint to be made someplace? By that I mean, the splint was made outside his office.

Hi Shell:
I think the splint that is going to be made for me is going to be so all my teeth can touch but so I can't grind. Is yours working well for you?

Tiffany

Tiffany, Well, one thing is for sure, the splint is comfortable. I think it is starting to help some. Hard to tell as I keep clenching on it. I have my period this week and that seems to be when I clench the most. Let me know how yours works touching on all teeth. I have an open bite and I think that is why they made mine the way it is. Keep me posted. Take care, Shell

Hi!
Yep, real comfortable! Yahoo! He sent my stuff away to get the splint made, took about 3 weeks.
Hope that helps!
Have a great nite!

Hi Shell:
I might be wrong that all my teeth will touch but that is what I thought he told me. I go on the 18th to have the impressions done so I will get answers to the rest of my questions then. I'll let you know it is once I get it.

Diane:
Ok...I'm glad I asked if he sent your stuff away to get your splint made because he told me it would take about 3 weeks to get it so that checks out with others experiences. I hope mine works as well as yours does.
Tiffany
