Night mouth guard not working!!!! - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

Waiting for a call back from the dentist. This night
guard is not working and it is leaving me sad, and
wondering what will be the next step or avenue to go
down. People say that the will call you back, but I
bet I will have to make the call.
I am still eating strained baby food, fruit and some
of the cereals,in a jar. Or soggy real cereal. Its
not easy. Sorry I am venting, this leaves me so mixed
up sometimes.
I do not like the dizzyness and the lightheadness that
I experience.
I hope to find answers, for those who have wrote a
reply on my threads I thank you. May God truly bless
your lives.

I totally understand your frustration and the people on this board are great about letting others vent. I do it all the time and everyone is so kind. So, any time you need to vent feel free to do so here. We all understand the frustration you are going through because we live it too. I presently have a night guard that I have been using for over 2 years now and it hasn't helped at all, except maybe to keep me from grinding my teeth down at night. I will be getting a new splint made in a few weeks that will hopefully help me. Hang in there.

Hi Sting: I'm sorry for what you're going through. Did they ever call you back? I know what that's like b/c the 2nd TMJ DDS I was seeing was supposed to call me back in March and never bothered to b/c he didn't know what to do with me. I hope you have better luck than I did. Sue

How long have you had this nightguard? If your dentist doesn't always call you back, maybe it's time to find a new one that'll take your problems a little more seriously. Are you seeing a specialist, or a dentist? I'm sorry to hear that you're having a rough time...hang in there,

Hi:

I've had 3 nightguards made by 3 different dentists. One I couldn't wear because it was hard acrylic and killed my teeth more than they already hurt. The others I wore but all they did was protect my teeth from grinding against each other while I was sleeping. They made my teeth more sore and also hurt my gums alot. For this sort thing, I think you really need a dentist who knows what they're doing and is precise in measuring and adjustment the mouthguard.

Cheryl's right - if you dentist doesn't call you back, it may to time to find a better dentist. Sometimes it's a long search and it seems never ending. But, don't give up. Keep pushing along. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.
