Sorry, I haven't checked the board for awhile. I ended up cancelling my appt. with Dr. Sigesmund because I have no insurance and got the feeling I'd be into it for a couple of grand and not even knowing if it would work.

I read your posts of your experiences with the doctor, and I'm not surprised. I actually live within walking distance of his office, so I wandered in there one day looking to ask some general questions to the receptionist, like, do I need a referal, etc? The doctor happened to be up front, but I addressed the receptionist. Well, I almost got attacked by the receptionist and the doctor at the same time. They didn't seem to like the fact I just walked in there, and were very suspicious for some reason.

The doctor told me he had no time to talk as he was very busy (but I just wanted to talk to the receptionist!). He wanted to know how I got his name. I told him I got it from the Ontario Dental Association and he didn't seem to believe it. I finally said, "Ok sorry, I'll call back if I want an appointment", and went to leave. All the sudden they both got really nice and got me to make an appt. right there on the spot. When I told the recpetionist I had no insurance, she snapped off an answer in fraction of a second, "Don't worry, well break it up into payments".

Even when I went to cancel it a few days later on the phone, the receptionist acted oddly because I didn't want to reschedule. The whole setup seemed very unprofessional in my opinion.

Like you, I like to know what the probable treatment plans are in advance (w/ costs). It's really bad if he's not explaining things to you. Right now, I'm taking anti-inflammitories (Naproxin) from my MD and hoping the problem subsides. I have to go see my regular dentist and I'm going to get his opinion. I may eventually go back if I get desparate, but if I do, I just might drive out to London to see the other guy or investigate other therapies first.
