Hi Kitten.
Thanks for your reply. I haven't heard of your doctor before, but, there are a bunch of people on the board that are very knowledgeable about the specialists in TMJ.
I have 2 problems going on ...muscular and very noisy disc that is probably displaced. The disc itself wasn't hurting, but, lately I am starting to have an ache in that area. When I go to therapy that helps.
I just started with a neuro dentist. i think eventually he will put me in a aplint. Apparently they have had a lot of success with recapturing and/or stabalizing.
The reason that I was asking you about your doctor, was that I originally was going to see a neuro specialist in Tampa. My parents live down there and I was so desperate to find a good neuro that I was going to travel. Now that I found one in Atlanta, it will work out better.
I'm going through the therapy to recapture the disk mainly because I'm concerned that the situation will get worse as time goes on. I do have some of the common tmj symptoms, but, they can usually get under control or come and go. I am getting more aches and minor headache in the left tmj, but, I'm not sure what's going on with that. Maybe I'm having sympathy pains for the board members? ha
So, how long have you had tmj problems? Mine just started getting bad in the psat 18 months.
Maybe I'm being an optimist, but, I'm hoping that after the neuro treatment, splint, and correcting some bad dental work, I'll be symptom free with no popping or clicking. My neuro said that he cannot guarantee that every ache and pain I have in my body can be cured with his treatment ...but, he can take care of the clicking/popping, strain on the tmj and get me in a comfortable (with the muscles) bite. Hopefully the can recapture the disc or at least get me in a position where the joint is stabilized and heals.
I hope you feel better kitten,
Take care!
