Hi Guys:
Have any of you guys ever gotten a metal taste in your mouth? I have this on and off. It's just awful. Have any of you ever had this happen?

Yes...I have this, too!! (I've never seen this mentioned before) It's driven me crazy this past year. I've eliminated all aluminum cans, (thinking that was the cause) and it still hasn't helped. It's off and on, though. Wow, someone else has this, all this time, I thought I was 'lacking' something!!! Is there a connection???

Hi Tiffany and Cheryl,

I bumped up that old post "A World...." This symtom is listed, but does not give an explanation. I have seen it on lists of symtoms elsewhere, but again, no explanation as to why. Many people have this symtom.

hi guys

i get that metal taste in my mouth too but i think mine is from my crowns. my front teeth were redone about 1.5 years ago and thats when the "penny" taste started. just curious to see if any of you have dental work that could be causing this.

I had no idea that so many of my fellow TMJ sufferers also had this problem with a metallic taste in their mouth. As Anastasia mentioned I thought perhaps it was my crowns but if I cover my crowns and touch the inside of my jaw with my tongue I can still taste it. But I do agree that where I have gold crowns the metallic taste is worse. Cheryl, this metallic taste I have is like yours...it comes and goes but honey when it's here it can drive a person mad. Do you feel that way too when you have it really bad? This board is just so great because if I didn't have this place where I could come and discuss stuff like this I would think I was just crazy. You know, sometimes with all these odd symptoms I begin to think I'm just a hypochondriac(sp). I think because there are just so many different types of symptoms I start thinking it's just in my head. Isn't it amazing all the symptoms that are attached to TMJ? Today the metallic taste is a bit better than yesterday. It usually hangs around for a day or two when I get it but those couple of days are miserable ones.
