Hi Sandi,
Mine is/was somewhat Like Ana's. Mine started about 3 years ago, about 22 years after being diagnosed with TMJD. It was like a Jet Roar, "CONSTANTLY". Mine was totally TMJ muscle related. I have no nerve damage to my ears. Sometimes, nerve damage is the cause.
Splint Therapy has helped tremedously and I only have a slight hissing every few days, now.
I had no luck with regular ENT's (5 total) with this. They don't make the connection. A Neurotologist made the diagnosis and told me it was entirely related to the TMJ problem.
The year prior to knowing what was causing my "T", I did try Dr. Jastreboff's TRT Program and it did help me deal with the noise.
If TMJ muscle problems are contributing to or causing the ringing, Splints and other therapies that relax the muscles will help.
Take Care,
Cymy Sue
