So I have a ton of cavities. Mostly my upper back teeth. Actually, all but one of my pre-molars/molars has a cavity. I also have cavities on teeth that have fillings. Anyways, I've been reading a few articles about how clenchers, grinders and those with malocclusions (e.g. open bite) are prone to cavities because of tooth wear.

I am only 22 and am afraid of losing more teeth. For those that are in the same situation, please post what you've done to save your ground-down teeth. Thanks!

P.S. Does anyone know how much it would cost to crown your teeth?

hey literati

i have tons of cavities too, 2 crowns and 3 root canals. i just had a check up last week and for once in my life...no cavities!

i also have impacted wisdom teeth just to make my life that much more fun.
my dentist said that having all of my teeth crowned (which i will have to do one day as a perm fix for my bite) will cost me $1200 per tooth. i only have 28 teeth and two have been crowned already so i guess you can do the math

. i think i'll stick to my NTI for a few more years.

Funny you should bring this up. I have just paid $6,000 for tons of dental work that I need done. My fillings had cavaties under them and them some. In the past month I have had about 5 or 6 filling replacements, 2 root canals, 2 crown preps and crowns. I still have 1 more filling to go and the perio work on all 4 quadrants. It's never ending. I know it's because 1. I've neglected my teeth due to the TMJ. 2. I smoke which doesn't help.

My insurance has paid nothing for the work I've been having done. None of their providers would even see me due to the TMJ. I knew I had to get it all done so paid it. My TMJ treatment has been on hold while I take care of all this other stuff. I'm still wearing my splint which has saved me through all this.

do you guys brush your teeth/floss a lot? i wonder why grinding and clenching increases the risk of cavities.. hm.

i brush my teeth 3-4 times a day [yah, i know.. that's obsessive.. hehe], and i really dont want to get any cavities.
