NeuroMuscular Dentist in Medwest area?? - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

Since my ins. will not pay for surgery and all of the reading I have done on this board I have decided this is probably the way to go.
Does anyone know of any NM dentists in the midwest area?? I could travel a little ways but not very far.
Right now I am completely BROKE, on unemployment and still not able to pay my bills. There is no way I could pay for treatment out of pocket unless we worked out a very generous payment plan. I do have good medical ins. that pays for just about anything TMJ related BUT surgery.

HELP please!!

PS my dentist gave me the name of a dentist she thought was involved in NM dentistry and I have left a message with his office. KCgirl, if it turns out he is, I will let you know!

I'm sorry to hear about your TMJ problems as well. At least we all have eachother on the board. I do not feel so alone now. I am like you, and am afraid of making an incorrect decision about which NM dentist. I am in the middle of interviewing for a new job, and my finances are very tight. Diane mentioned that Dr. Brookover has different payment options. It sounds like he is trying to be accommodating to those of us who cannot actually afford treatment up front. That speaks volumes. I recently contacted the head of NM dentistry at LVI, Dr. C, and he offered no payment options. His fee for NM treatment with an orthotic was $8000 up front. I couldn't believe it!*! I asked him if he would review my MRI report, and his assistant said no. So after hearing about Dr. B, and his caring chairside manner along with his effective treatment, I may go consult with him. Please let me know if you find anyone in the Midwest. Good luck to you and stay strong.

If Neuromuscular Dentistry is the direction that you'd like to pursue, look into the Las Vegas Institute for advanced dental studies....do an alumni search for your area. Hope this helps.
