Unhappy jaw and ear pain/locking episode

Hello everyone,
I am hoping some of you can help me. I know you guy's are not doctors or anything but i have a question. I have really bad ear pain and I have been told there is no infection you have tmj. This is all the advice my doc gave to me and also to eat a soft diet. Recently I have been having jaw pain, headaches(in the temple area), ear stabbing pains, jaw locking eapisodes, ear and jaw popping and clicking, trouble swallowing and everything. I have an appt. tommorow to see a TMJ specialist and I'm going to get a splint. My question is, have any of you started out with these symptoms and it progressed to more? And also do you think it seems like I really do have TMJ? Thanks all will help.

to me, it sounds like you have some symptoms of TMJD, but make sure that other disorders that mimic TMJD are ruled out.. just to be on the safe side.

my symptoms have gotten worse and have changed over the years. when i first started to have problems, i mainly had headaches and migraines.

make sure that you dont do anything irreversible when you start your treatment. it's always better to start out conservative and do reversible things. also, multiple opinions from dentists is always a good idea.

what type of splint are you getting? what other therapies are you trying?

take care,

- saaraah.

Hello,
I am currently just doing a little bit of jaw excersizes and just trying to relax it.
I would be getting a splint just to make my jaw stop locking and clicking. I am going tommorow to see my doc but he talked to me over the phone and said he wants to try the splint. I am also going to go to a TMJ specialist. I have been having alot of facial pain lately. My whole face hurts and I can't think and I keep tearing up in the eyes and lately my eyes have been hurting. Well thanks for the advice. Ann
