hi, i m just wondering how many different kinds of doctors are u guys seeing? i am seeing a dentist (tmj specialist), a chiro, a physio and a orthopae. I understand that some are seeing a neuro? what does a neuro do? what is the worst come to worst situation for a tmj person? will we get paralysed one day? unable to walk, work, carry things, have kids, talk?

right now, my list is rather small.. im seeing a dentist, osteopath, and massage therapist. i do have a few other health profs that i infrequently see, too.

if TMJD is allowed to follow it's course, im afraid of the future. with the way things are going, i doubt i'd be able to cope with or properly raise children. and i sure dont know what type of career i'll be able to have that doesnt have talking or dealing with people.

you shouldnt become paralyzed from TMJD.

i guess, tho, people adapt... and i've coped with this stuff for this far.. i suppose i can deal with it longer.

hopefully, things will turn out better.. but we'll see. sorry to be so depressing.

paxy - im 21, but i'll be 22 in 2 days. ewww. hehe.

a long time ago, an oral surgeon said to stay away from weight-lifting or anything high impact. instead, he suggested walking, biking, or swimming for exercise. perhaps it'd be better to try something that wont cause you a lot of strain which could perpetuate your pain and symptoms?

thank god.. i do have a bf, and i honestly have no idea how he puts up with me. he's stuck by me for the past 4.5 years, and he's seen me rock-bottom. sometimes i'll tell him to go find another chick who'll give him the world, but he never goes [thank god].. he wants to be with me.. [crazy guy.. heh]

i generally dont talk about my pain to anyone except for my bf when it gets really bad. i've found that most people are not receptive to hearing about my pain, so i dont burden them with it. however, finding this forum is extremely beneficial, since the people here know exactly what you're going thru. as well, they're extremely supportive.

anyway, i wish you luck.. and good health.

take care,

- saaraah.
