Does anyone know why people with TMJ are prone to developing fluids in the inner ear, why our ears dont drain properly and we have so much interfearance in that area. My docs all have different versions. Im just so lost for about a month my dizziness and the slosh in my ears went at least 70% away. Now its back and Im again trapped in my house, cant drive cant focus. Im so confused and bummed out.
I'm groping with this too, but I just wanted to say I really sympathize. I thought my eardrums were going to burst the other day when I drove up into mountains, when I got home I tried using a heating pad and the feeling in each as if they contained had a little balloon full of water (swollen eardrum?)went with the heat. Have you tried using moist heat on your ears? Another thing I read on a site about ear inflammation occurring on a flight is that you can try closing your mouth, pinching your nose closed, and then breathe out throuhg your nose hard, if you hear your ears 'pop' you have cleared the eustachian tube (sp?) somewhat. I've been hopefully trying the latter too, not sure it's helping but any little thing could maybe be doing some good.
What do your docs say about the ear, I'm interested?
Anyway, there HAS to be a way to make it better, if you had it go away to such an extent just recently you can get to that again!
I am having trouble with one of my ears. It feel very full. I take medications for allergys, and it does seem as if my Allegra-D helps some. Loud noises hurt my ears. I have no idea what the connection is, but I agree it is enough to make a person crazy. If anyone has any insight I would love to hear it.
Hi
I can totally relate to what you are going through. I am going to see and Ear,Nose, Throat specialist the first of October. If I get anywhere I will let you know. I went to see both the TMJ Dr and a neruoligst and there is a chance that the tube in my ear is being shut off by the swelling in my jaws but they are not sure. They also say it is a possibility that I have what is called Bengin Positional Vertigo or Minears on top of the TMJ. They say it is not totally uncommon to have both. I just hope and pray they can find something so I can get this dizziness to go away. It is scary. Hang in there and know we are all in this together. I will let you know if I get any results from the specilist.
I have this too. My ENT never said what can cause it but I have had this since I was real little. When I go swimming about 2 weeks after I have fluid in there. Also when i bend over I get a sharp stabbing pain and then a fizzing notion at the end. I wish I knew as well!!
Hi Jill - Good luck with the ENT visit. Can they do some type of test to see if your tubes are blocks cause of the swelling, that sounds like a very logical explanation at least according to what I feel. In June they did a Myringotomy (sp?) to my left ear which is putting a hole in the ear drum to let it drain, kinda like putting in a tube. it hurt like heck but I think it helped a little for about 2 months. now the ringing is back again.
