I have my repo splint evaluation w/Dr. today - wish me luck!
I've been wearing my repo splint for 2 months now. I go to see my TMJ dr. at 1:00 to evaluate how I am doing - whether its working or not and whether I need to keep wearing it. I have to say that I think it IS working. I am completely off Celebrex and Flexeril. Not to say that I feel 100% better- I dont think thats possible. I dont care if I have to keep wearing this thing forever - if it works its worth it.I am interested to see what the dr. says though....I hope that HE thinks its working. Wish me luck!
Good Luck Lecach!
It seems that if you feel it's doing good --- you it likely is!! Let us know how he determines if it's working (testing on the EMG etc.). I've been wearing my rep. splint for 7 weeks now. Can't say it's done major things for me... In what ways do you feel yours is working? Are you cracking...deviating less? Having less head/neck ache? etc.
Have a great appointment today! RR

Well I didnt crack before. But I am in less pain and I dont feel that I have to have my Celebrex and Flexeril. Before whenever I tried to go off them I was in unbearable pain. Now I am able to feel okay being off them. My physical therapist says that it feels looser and smoother to him. And the weird protruding bone in my right jaw has dropped lower (no one has been real clear what that is other than its somehow connected to my jaw). Im actually having more headaches now but I think thats because I am off the Celebrex. The headaches only come about once every other week and 2 tylenol usually take care of it.
Thanks for your good wishes! My husband and I want to try to get pregnant but we've been having to wait until I go off the drugs. After I take my birth control pill tomorrow I will be off maintenance prescription drugs for the first time in 20 years! Thats a savings of over $60 a month.
My dr. appt. went well - they really didnt do much other than measure my opening (its 1 mm bigger - to us TMJ sufferers thats a big deal!). They want me to continue wearing the splint for 3 months but to try going without it during the day some. My Dr. is worried about my bite messing up - I didnt realize until after my appt. when I tried to bite down without the splint that my bite is already a bit off. But I am not in much pain and I am not taking any meds so I can deal with the bite being off. The Dr. is please with my progress though. I go back on Dec. 5.
