Post Loud Noises make me go insane

Is this a phobia or is it because of my ears? I can't be around balloons, western shows (guns) or anything. Can this be due to TMJ? Thanks

Hyperacusis (senstivity to noise) is VERY real.

However, when you have it you develop a phobia of sound. If you KNOW a sound will be loud, you can probably handle it.

When you hear a loud unexpected sound, you get "anxious" and react to it, partly because you don't know HOW your going to react.

Basically -- you start to avoid noise because you are afraid of it, because it hurts you. SOmetimes though, the hurt is very minimal.

it's confusing.. and I have it.. and it sucks!

Thank you for the information,
I get scared and cover my ears when I see something that is loud. I can't even celebrate the fourth of July because I can't stand fireworks!!!

I have been having alot of sensitivity to sound lately too and this is really weird but one noise that really bugs me lately is the sound my mouse makes (on my computer) when I scroll! (the clicking noise!) Really loud noises bug me too and kinda hurt...but I am amazed that this small sound really gets on my nerves! Anyone else have this trouble?
