I am SOOOO mad at the NIH! Here it is 23 years later,
they STILL have done nothing to help us, as TMD
patients and they are wasting our tax dollars on a stupidstudy! 3.2 million to be exact! In watching Joe
Scarborough on Scarborough Country - MSNBC night before last, he does this segment on tax dollars going to waste.
"And now it’s time for tonight’s “Capital Offense.”
This is where we remind you how your tax dollars are
wasted. And tonight’s version is a despicable waste of
money, even by Washington standards. And at the heart
of it is a frequent capitol offender, the National
Institute of Health.
Now, the NIH is charged with medical and behavioral
research in America, but they’ve picked some strange
behavior to investigate and right now they’re doing a
study of commercial sex parlors in California. More
specifically, Asian massage parlors.
That’s right, the preeminent medical body in America
is studying the behavior of immigrant prostitutes"
Please, send a message to Joe at MSNBC, let him know
how you feel about this, especially when we all sit
out here going from Dr to Dr, drug to drug, dentist to
dentist, sadly surgeon to surgeon. I sent a message,
I doubt one message will get a lot of fire under
him.... perhaps if he gets a BUNCH of messages, that
will make him say something on television and help us
out!
I am sorry, I just can't believe it. 3.2 million
dollars to what? Geez

Dianne, that is disgusting!!! What on earth do they think they will find out in this study?? Just amazes me that we spend so much on stupid things like that when it could be put to good use actually helping people!!! OK, now you got my blood pressure going! (LOL!) Seriously though, stuff like that really urks me!
I KNOW if this is was a mans problem there would have been more on this. For example, PBS did a show last night on reporductive health and how the rest of the world is seriously behind on preventing pregnancy and STDs and women in this country didn't make such progress with pills etc. A Male doctor was interviewed and said plainly, if reproduction and PMS were male issues there would have been more wide spread education even at the turn of the century (I didnt know condoms were made in the 1850's or 1860s!
And last week I told my neuro that I saw my surgeon as just a 4 month post followup I had no other reason to see him because I didn't let him touch my jaw -- he said to me, "well Im glad you're not clicking as much but this splint just isn't functional in society" HELLO!!! Before I was on the brink of suicide, crying all the time cause I never got a break from dizziness, constant ear stuff, throwing up from vertigo - U know the deal -- talk about not functional!! So my Neuro - a woman - just said said He doesn't get it.
And why won't MSNBC do a story on TMJ!! All these people with 3 blenders on their counters just to eat, misguided surgeries and all the rest I don't have to tell you all about.
Hey Everyone
I do not know if any wrote a note to Joe, I did, but I did not get a response, it breaks my heart. Nor have I received responses from Oprah, Howard Dean, senators, no one. What is IT GOING TO TAKE to get someone, somewhere with some form of influence to take this nightmare we are all suffering with and DO SOMETHING!
You will not believe this!
