Anyone have arthritis of the tmj's? - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

Hi,
Got my tomograms on the 2nd and the tech said I have arthritis in the tmj's. Don't know how bad it is until the 20th when I see the dentist. Does anyone else have arthritis?

Grace, do tomograms then actually show arthritis if you have it? I just had some done (with my mouth open and with my teeth together biting on a small stick) but no one has really interpreted them for me, I'm wonder what questions I should be asking re what they could show about the joint etc., what should I be looking at, what conditions can they rule out for me.

I don't have it do you?? I feel bad for people that do!! It must hurt worse than TMJ by itself!!

The technicion sp? just showed me one set of x-rays and pointed out that on the bone there were dark and white areas. I think she said that the dark areas indicate where the arthritis is. Will find out more on the 20th.

I have arthritis but not a whole lot that can be done for it. After dealing with three surgeries the main thing I have learned is!!! You can live with arthritis, you can live with a displaced disc,(popping, clicking,etc.) If you can open and close, surgery shouldn't even be considered. I was told that the popping/clicking was going to destroy my joint. Now that I have had three surgeries and my joint IS destroyed, what is suggested next? Total joint...
It is never ending and totally disgusting. I am trying not to finance anymore vacations for these vultures! I get sick everytime I think how I was rooked into this mess...We have to think about what type of doctor we go to and how they make their living, that is the deciding factor on our treatment.(Just my opinion)
