flexeril [cyclobenzaprine] and indocin [indomethacin]

at my last appointment with my TMJD dentist, he prescribed me flexeril [cyclobenzaprine], indocin [indomethacin], and tylenol #3s for my pain until i can get my nighttime splint in a month.

ive never heard of indocin and was wondering if anyone had good/bad/indifferent experiences with it. :)

this morning, i took the indocin and flexeril, so we'll see if it does anything. i find it kind of funny that now that my pain has been reduced, ive been prescribed tons of meds.

Sarah,

I am confused as to why you can't get your splint into your mouth. I must of missed something.

Yes, I agree with your regarding the medication routine. I have yet to have anyone prescribe me anything for pain. I am nine months post op and just recently got some Neurontin and Lidocaine patches. I did have some flexaril prescribed for me a few months post op, but I didn't have much luck with it. I have heard Ultram is not addictive, but no one on the board seems to be getting much for pain relief.

I guess it is all in our heads? (no pun intended)

heh. actually, i said that i wont be getting my splint for a *month*.. :) the reason i was prescribed pills is because my TMJD dentist believes that my symptoms will continue to get worse, since my jaw is sliding back at night. the drugs, then, are to tide me over until i get the splint in a month. the nightguard should prohibit my jaw moving: it would keep my mandible in the correct position. with the nightguard, my symptoms should be lessened.

ive had a difficult time with medications in the past.. a lot of people have felt that im too young to be prescribed strong meds, which is silly considering i was in pain.

anyway, i wish you well.

Hi Saarah,
Wanted to tell you that I have a whole bag full of meds that all of my 30 different docs have prescribed for me for my neck pain. (the neck pain is from TMJ though)Medical doctors prescribed most of them and my dentist gave me Oravail. Oravail just upset my stomach so I quit taking it after four days. I take Darvocet, Robaxin and Skelaxin as needed - only when the pain in really bad. I don't like taking all the meds cuz they just cloud my mind and I get tired and can't think straight. Like I'm drunk! Anyway, I have Flexeril too and that knocks me out real fast, so I don't take that any more either! These meds just cover up the real problem, but they are nice to have just in case you're really hurting bad.
Adios.
Michele
