| Re: Muscle tremors in shoulder due to TMJ?
Katie,
TMJD can cause muscle problems, but it does seem to be more of a constant source of tight or spasming muscles. I've had upper body muscle problems for years and diagnosed with Fibro by different Doctors several times through the years. I was never sure if it was a true Fibromyalgia or the TMJ problems. I seemed to have flares, which I'm told is considered Fibro, too.
I did get the muscle problems under control except the facial muscles with massage therapy. Splint therapy has done away with the majority of the rest.
Everyone is different in how their muscles respond to treatment and how they respond to splint therapy.
I did a lot of research on Fibro and TMJD and the connection, if you have both.
I think it would be hard to know which is responsible for this new symtom. I believe it would be more related to the Fibro, but possibly the Fibro responding to your treatment.
I've had some tremors in my arms and a feeling of weakness. It went away, once the muscle spasms were under control. I think this may be considered one of those vicious cycles, where one problem is contributing or affecting the other and vice-versa.
I never really figured out if I had Fibro. I did manage to get most all of the spasms and other symtoms stopped with massage and splint therapy.
Hopefully, you're on your way. If this symtom continues, I think I would ask, just for peace of mind.
