David B Miller DDS - Sacramento anyone seen him?

Hi,

I am currently looking for another specialist to go see about TMJ. Has anyone been to see this guy based in Sacramento ? He has a book and has had TMJ himself. A recommendation from someone would be great.

Also my main symptom right now is that I can't find my bite and I am not sure where my teeth are meant to hit. Sometimes they hit together accidentally when I am talking. Weird....has anyone else had this and if so is it easy to sort ? Its horrible and scary !

Thanks,
Emma

Hi Emma: I haven't been to see Dr. Miller, but was just looking at his website this afternoon. lol. My teeth hit each other sometimes too. It's very aggravating. I'm supposed to get braces after I've worn a lower splint for several months. This time I'm seeing a functional orthodontist. I've only seen him once so far and am waiting for the splint to come in. Do you have an open bite?

I hope you find a good specialist. Keep in touch and good luck.

An open bite is where your front teeth don't touch is that right ? If this is so then no I don't have an open bite. I have just had this tmj for three months, I'm not in pain at all and was hoping it was going to go away on its own but it hasn't....god I really don't want braces.....

what causes the teeth hitting together ? does your bite feel weird, uncomfortable ?

So u wear the lower splint to bring your jaw forward is that right ? And then braces to move your teeth into a new position ? why do they need moved ? Is the splint an irreversible treatment ?

sorry for all the questions ! I hope it goes well for you. oh one last thing...does it feel weird when you are talking ? I feel like I am speaking differently now.

Emma

Hi Emma:

My bite does feel weird. Yes, that's what an open bite is. Sometimes I feel like I have a lisp, but then that goes away. My bite feels very off and since only my back molars touch, it makes eating very difficult. Some people get crowns put on or have their teeth filed down (equilabration) instead of wearing braces. The braces are supposed to correct my bite permanantly. I've heard conflicting info about whether a splint is irreversible.

It's great that you don't have any pain!!!
