Hi, several years ago I had trouble opening my jaw every now and then , this lasted for a while and went away. For about a year now I have had ringing in my right ear and now I am having a headache that is always on the left upper part of my head. I have fullness in my left ear and every morning my left eye tears like crazy. I have an overall feeling of not feeling connected to my head. The mornings are the worst, I wake up really stopped up and always with a headache. I have been to an ENT and he couldn't find anything wrong with my sinuses. I think it is strange that the problems with my jaw were on the left side only but the ringing is on the right side only,the headaches are on the left side only also. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post.

The syptoms you describe are symptoms of tmjd. TMJD sufferers often experience headaches, sinus problems, ringing in the ears or other ear problems, eye problems. It's also not unusual for ENTs to say there's nothing wrong. This has happened to several people on the board.

The best way to find out if your symptoms are tmjd is to find a dentist who specializes in treating it. There is no specialty in tmjd, so it's hard to find an experienced, knowledgeable dentist as anyone can call themselves a tmjd expert. A good dentist will examine you thoroughly, palpate your facial and surrounding muscles and do tomogram xrays to check the position of your tm joints.
