| Nti
The following information will help you and your dentist when being fitted with an NTI. It may also explain why an NTI did not work for you if you had one made.
When the doctor is fitting the NTI, 3 major obstacles must be avoided.
1) When you move your mandible forward and back on the ramp, your anterior teeth do not go off the ramp.
2) When the NTI is fitted, the ramp height must be reduced as much as possible, so that your mouth is not open too wide. The height of the ramp must be just high enough to just keep your teeth apart when going from side to side.
3) When your NTI is in place, and you move your jaw from side to side, the ramp does not touch your opposing canine in the opposite arch. If it does, have your dentist try placing the NTI on your lower anterior teeth.
Show this to your dentist because this will make the difference in the NTI giving you relief or not working.
