Hi Everyone,

I posted something about my mental disability before. I have OCD Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I have had tmj for 10 months now and because of the OCD, my jaw never really had a chance to heal. I compulsively grind, and clench my jaw all day. Sometimes I will even move my jaw in all different directions. I know that aggravates the tmj but I can't seem to stop. In fact, I have already seen 3 tmj specialists and most of them can not help me because of my disability. I have already had 3 mouth splints made for me and I would compulsively clench and grind on the splint all day long. Even when I went to get an occlusal bite adjustment I would feel every little bump on my teeth. Nothing seems to satisfy or work for me. Although my tmj is mild, about a 1-3 pain level, I do want to get better but don't know how. I am afraid if I continue to compulsively do these bad habits my jaw will never get better. I can spend thousands of dollars on my teeth, getting crowns, mouth splints, etc etc etc, but I will still compulsively do the things that will aggravate the tmj even more. I feel like I am losing my mind. If I didn't have the ocd, the tmj would have been gone a long time ago. I know I drive my dentist up the walls. He told me that I need to get a grip on the ocd in order for the tmj to get better. I know this doesn't sound that easy to solve but does anyone have any advice on how to stop the things that aggravates the tmj. I am very afraid that I may have already permanently damaged my jaw.
