Burning poker pain in right ear. Sometimes it feels more like a twisting knife. Clicking in my right ear when I open, close, and swallow. Neck and occipital pain. This is a constant heavy ache that feels like fibromyalgia of the head/neck/upper shoulders. Behind the right eye and temple headache. Most everything is on the right side. Sometimes me jaw shifts/swings to the left (to get away from the right side).
In good phases, when I'm able to exercise, I hear my heart beating in my right ear. My right joint clicks if I do anything higher impact. My right ear gets stuffy like I'm in an airplane that's landing. I get dizzy and winded.
Sometimes my throat tightens and I gag on my food/drink or have a coughing fit. My inner ears itch and I scratch them with q-tips. I make clucking noises, which I'm unaware of until it's pointed out to me. I swallow/gulp heavily.
Interestingly, I do tend to have right nostril nosebleeds. And last night, I woke up from right canine pain (I was heavily bruxing on it). As soon as I awoke, my right nostril started gushing blood. Then blood started coming out of both nostrils--heavy clotted menstrual type blood. I don't know what's going on, or what to do about it, because I'm between dentists. My blood pressure is low/normal.
My worst symptom is the bruxism. Before I had restorations, the bruxing caused NO pain. But now, I can't sleep more than 90 minutes at a stretch without pain from bruxing on some high spot on my splint. I've had a zillion adjustments, but my dentist can't get it comfortable. So, I'm shopping for a new dentist. The sharp pains I get in the middle of the night from bruxing are usuallly much more intense than the fibromyalgia type pain I have during the day. The bruxing pain scares me. It feels like I'm yanking my teeth right out of their sockets. It takes my breath away. Then, I can't get back to sleep.
I'm like Pavlov's dog--over the past 5 years, all that bruxing pain has been negative reinforcement for sleep. I'm terrified of the havoc my nocturnal bruxism will wreak. I'm averaging 4 hours of sleep a night. I'm a walking zombie during the day.
I understand drugs are an option, but I'm afraid of getting hooked. I know that benzo withdrawal causes many of the symptoms I'm already having (insomnia, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc.) Even Flexeril does not relax my muscles/bruxing or help me to sleep. It just makes me feel like more of a zombie during the day.
