Thanks! |
Well, mine is so severe that it's scary. So I'm going to order one now. I'll let you know how it goes.
I tried "The Doctor's Night Guard," and though it relieves some of the pain, it makes me have an "open bite" if I use it for more than a few nights.
I had read a lot about "open bite" on these boards, and Now I know what that is. Also scary. The back molars meet, but the front teeth are still apart.
I'm going to get a CAT-Scan or CT. The health insurance finally told me it's covered, and that if it's for diagnostic reasons, it doesn't count toward TMJ because it could be something else too. I also found out (after 2 months of calls) that in the state of Illinois there is a mandate for insurers to cover at least $2500 per lifetime for TMJ, which UHC (my current insurer) does cover. They also list TMJ in the exclusions, which is why I thought it wasn't covered, but it turns out that there's that mandate, and that although exclusions trump benefits, state mandates trump exclusions.
So, with that info under our belts, where do we find out about state mandates? Whoops. I'm a librarian. I guess that would be me to answer that question.

Later. For now, feel free to share this info.
And
THANK YOU, natureschild, for posting the names Aquilizer and Dental Depot. It looks like I could have saved about 20% if I'd bought my mouth guard through them. And they have lots of other hard-to-find things at good prices too.
If I space out coming back here for more than a couple of weeks, pm me if you want to know what I've since uncovered, discovered, and endured.
