I've been seeing a tmj specialist for about a year now with absolutely no results. I actually think I'm getting worse. He's the only specialist in Montreal and I'm suffering with extreme spasms, tooth pain and facial pain. He made me a new guard for the bottom teeth which makes me worse, I've tried every medication, trigger point injections, tens and now i'm waiting for an appointment for physical therapy. He says there's nothing else he can do for me. I don't know what to do, I can't live like this and I have no where else to go. Please any suggestions would be welcome.

I see your a ginder from your other post, are you sure you exhausted all meds- there must be something out there that can ease your grinding alittle. I also see you have MS- I had it for 16 years. I also get the terrible muscle spasms- face head and neck, and I don't know if MS contributes to the muscle spasms. I got TMJ from a new set of dentures I got 4 months ago. The physical therapist really helped my neck muscle, she massaged them and made me do exercises., also did ultrasound on the joint area and warm heat, so I would try PT. Keep looking for new Drs, theres got to be someone who can help you.
I just wanted to add, I am taking 500mg of mag and 1200 of cal, fish oil, glucosime, a multivitamen and whey protein. I am only eating softer foods not a lot of chewing, and my Dr. put me on Naprosym last week- which seems to be helping, although Ibuproben didn't.
Thank you lovetocamp but unfortunately I can't take the vitamins and any anti inflamatories because I have major stomach problems to. I will definately try the Phsio.
Marcap, I too live in Montreal, Quebec and am looking for a TMJ specialist. What's his/her name and where are they located. Have they helped at all, even a little? Please let me know.
His name is Dr. Lessard and he has an office in Laval but I see him at the pain clinic at the Montreal General Hospital. He has not helped me at all but as far as I know he's the only specialist in Montreal. You could try I only hope he would be able to help you Mike.
