Do you bite your cheeks?

Do those of you with TMJ have a lot of problems with biting the insides of your cheeks when you are clenching at night?

Re: Do you bite your cheeks?

I do this on occasion when I am eating. I think it is because my disc is displaced.

Yes , I do. It seems unconcious and automatic with me. My discs are displaced and I'm not lined up correctly. What a mess , hey ?
Take it easy everyone.

Re: Do you bite your cheeks?

thanks miss l for mentioning the white thing on cheek. my dentist recently found one on my right cheek.
i have had arthritic tmj for 30yrs and it got bad last yr after 2 surgeries not related to tmj. i found magnetic pillow pads help tremendously and i wear a magnetic wrist band too. i take advil and ice pack to reduce swelling and heat rub for muscle pain.
does anyone experience a sensation theres something in your throat when your jaw is inflamed?

Re: Do you bite your cheeks?

I do it sometimes to try and stabilize my jaw during the day. But I also get those big raised areas from biting it too much. I'm afraid I'll start to do it unconsciously.

Re: Do you bite your cheeks?

I get that sort of burning feeling around my gums on the back molars, too. But I thought it was some kind of damage from dental work.

Re: Do you bite your cheeks?

i have most of the same symptom you have miss L, but also have facial/tight muscles due to spastic cerebral which doesn't help tmj. Sharp pains in hard, dizziness when it worsens. neck pain. Mine is mostly the right jaw. My jaw goes to the left.
Has anyone noticed when the humidity is up their tmj worsens?
