Does anyone out here have experiences with muscle relaxer other than vallium to treat TMJ?
I have TMJ and ear issues that are caused by muscle-spasm / tension.
I can not imagine that the medication would eliminate my symptoms, but some reduction would be very welcome.

I should add that Flexeril was suggested.

All muscle relaxants are addicting. Flexeril can make you feel very dizzy & drowsy and feel like a zombie with rubber legs.

Have you tried heat, a massager, and accupunture?

I take Flexeril before bed and have no problems from it. It works well also.

I've been prescribed Tinzanidine (sp?) and I haven't noticed any side effects. I specifically asked for one with less "drowsiness" issues.

How do the properties of mucle relaxants effect your symptoms of TMJ.
I seem impossible for me to deeply relax mucles arround my jaw. How are the effects felt? My Eustachian tube muscles are somewhat shortened as well. I get a pronounced clicking each time I swallow. On top of that I have tinnitus.

Oh my gosh, I just went to the ear doctor today for this. Every darn time I swallow or yawn my left ear goes into a clicking thing. Is it cause its shortened? Now I have Zanaflex, it seems to work better on major muscles, about a year ago I was prescribed Valium and told it works well on the facial muscles, it does.
