I get a feeling like there is something stuck in the side of my throat that I cannot get out. Sometimes it's kind of poky feeling and other times it feels like something is just caught in there and I cannot swallow it or get it up. It is very aggravating.
Mine is mainly to the right upper throat. it feels tight. Occassionally I'll get the pokey feeling.
Does any of your noses run when eating or after eating?
For the last 3 weeks or a month I have had this feeling like something is stuck in my esophagus. It's like the feeling you get when you've swallowed a big pill and it gets stuck - except it's further down the tube. The sensation is coming from the area right in the middle of my chest - about six inches down from my adam's apple, just slightly above my sternum.
At first, I thought it was from eating dinner while leaning back in my lazy boy chair. Then, I thought that my habit of eating very fast is finally catching up with me. This is not exactly painful but is just uncomfortable and worrisome.
One person stated that this could be from stress. I don't think I'm particularly stressed out at this time in my life. If anything, I now have much better coping mechanisms for stress than at any other time. Don't get me wrong - there is stress in my life - primarily from work issues.
I am trying some Maalox right now and going to see what happens.
i get the feeling like my muscles are affecting the back of my throat, when i move or open my mouth it tugs on the muscle behind my tonsil its a pulling stinging feeling but not a sure throat as such

do you get the feeling like your whole neck is swollen and stinging, it even affects my sinuses , they are not infected but the maxilary sinuses do not feel like they are ventilating properly, it is so hard to describe but i am told its my sternacleidamastiods and neck muscles that cause the sharp stinging pulled feeling in back of throat do your ears pop when you open your mouth wide

yes to all the questions, i call the saliva in the back of my throat';;'gluggy feeling, and my throat burns and stings real bad, i dont know how it all started it seem to slowly progress but i know that i have had all these tests and the only answer has been tight muscles in neck and shoulders and tmj

im from australia, where do you live? hope we can chat soon

Hi again went to see the specialist at the hospital today, he said im gonna have to grin and bear it for 3 months while my dental treatment is finnished. I told him about the feeling of the floor of my mouth being swollen and that it felt like i had a lump there he had a really good luck and did all the lymph gland and salivery gland checks even re looked at my exrays and said what i was feeling must be muscle tissue thats inflamed!!
So now i have to wait 3 months! what other tests did you have done? i have such an earach tonight because i was on the phone for about 1 hour earlier. Im from England i live in Glasgow! are you seeing a specialist? oh yeah the dental surgeon said that he was goint to write to my dentist to make me a mouth gard for my clenching habbit so im affraid i just have to sit the next 3 months out! how are you today and please keep in touch best wishes
hi miss L

Hi Starlight how you doing i had really bad pain over the weekend and i never ususally get the sore joint i usually feel the pain in my teeth refered pain ! but my joint was so sore do you get a sore joint and how you keeping im back at the dentist a week tomorrow and im a little scared oh yeah i forgot to mention that my oral surgeon said my theeth where shorter on one side than the other do you know what that is caused by
hi sweety
yes your teeth being shorter on one side indicates that you are grinding and /or clenching or your jaw is tilted, check which side you eat on and your mouth action,
my jaw actually pulls my skin tight on my face and pulls my eustachian tubes open
its cruel and i dont know what besides an op can fix it
have you a *** addy?
my ears fill up with hot air and its very hard to explain this to drs
hugs to you

Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if I may have this. I do have sort of a grinding/crushing sound that comes from my right jaw during movement, my ears also pop like crazy when I move my jaw. I feel the tightness in the right side of my throat, and have been getting headaches on that side. I also notice that feeling as though saliva kind of collects in that back area like another person mentioned on here. The area feels sort of cool or hypersensitive to the saliva, kind of hard to describe. I also get that clicking in my throat when I first wake up in the morning and my head is at a certain angle. As I mentioned in this thread in more detail

It's strange because an ex of mine had TMJ, she showed the definite signs though, locking extremely loud popping jaw ect. Isn't TMJ not very typical in men?
edit: Couple of other things I've noticed. Boyle, my right nostril will run and my right tear duct will sometimes ltear down my face out of nowhere.
Does the pain come in waves for anyone else? It usually most bothersome when I first wake up in the morning then kind of comes and goes throughout the day and seems to bother me more when I'm under a bit of stress. It will last weeks at a time, the pain will peak one day or two, disappear for a week or so then come back. What people have said on here is eerily familiar to what I have been experiencing, so i wonder...
It's not as prevalent in men...but that's probably because they won't acknowledge their pain.... sorry.... my opinion... those sympoms are soooo familiar... I didn't say anything because I thought 1. they weren't important enough ( stupid ) or 2. My regular doc. I thought I might be blowing things out of proportion. 3. I didn't know if it was connected to my headaches, TMJ, or what... and I'm soooooo sick of going to the dr. what have you been doing about it?
