| Ernest syndrome
Anyone here been diagnosed with Ernest syndrome? Supposedly it has many symptoms in common with TMJ.
I have been suffering for many months with many TMJ symptoms. I have pain, popping and fullness in my ear, aching pain in my lower jaw, pain right under my ear, one-sided headaches, swelling of the gums of my back teeth and what feels like swelling of the inside of my lower jaw, and an off-and-on sore thoat and feeling like something is stuck there. I saw a dentist and endodontist and teeth checked out ok. I saw my doctor who said my lymph nodes were swollen and prescribed antibiotics. They did nothing. I saw an ENT who said my salivary glands were swollen and he prescribed antibiotics - still no change.
Out of desparation I started searching the net on my own and found that my symptoms seem to match Ernest syndrome, which is a problem with the stylomandibular ligament. It feels a lot like TMJ but without pain when opening jaws or clicking (I actually feel better when chewing).
Any suggestions as to how to follow up on this? What type of doctor should I see?
