Can you only buy the Therabite device from your oral surgeon or can you get it from other stores, maybe online, without a prescription? Anyone have any estimates on how much one costs?

I got mine with an RX from the company, it was about 500$, the only bad thing was they made me pay upfront, then a year later sent me to collections even though they made me pay before even sending it.

I got mine from my oral surgen when i was in the hospital for jaw surgery, I now have 2 of them,
Before I was allowed to use it, I had to watch this vido on how to use it, then my Dr, came in and showed me how to use it.

If you don't use it corretly you can mess up your jaw. and it will caused you to be in more pain if you forced it to much! Did your Doc suggest you get one??

Do you have an densit or oral surgen to ask him what he thinks and if you need to use one? I think they need to be the one to order it for you then you watch the vido on it. Or do you just want to do some jaw exersies and strech the jaw to improve your opening? you can use tongue depressures or popcycle sitcks. start out with 3 if you can get it that in and keep putting one more in. and leave it in for a min. then try another one. before you do this. do some streaching first! and ask your Dr if this is what you can do. Please talk to your Dr first and aske him what he things about you doing this first! I don't know how bad your tmj is, or if you had surgery at all, because doing this without your Dr approval could damage you more if you don't do it right.

I just had surgery and my surgeon recommended one,but said most insurance companies don't cover them, and of course mine would cover it,but I have met my max for nonsurgical. They just like to pay someone to cut on you whether it helps on not. I am using the tongue depressors now, but they are a pain. I guess I will stick with them because I don't want to dish out 500 bucks. Thanks for the info.

I, too, just had a total joint replacement. I asked my oral surgeon for one. They do have a website; but, I don't think you can order it from it.

I had one about 12 years ago after my open joint. It helped tremendously. Stupid for me., though, I threw it out..because the surgery worked.

I find it helping me now, though it is kind of expensive. But, as road8 said...the tounge depressers work too. and, they are not expensive
