Anyone try the NTI-tss??? - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

Has anyone tried this NTI devise? I just saw a dentist who specializes in TMJ and I was very impressed with him. No glitz and glammor in his office, just straight to the point etc. He gave me some info to read up on it and told me to check out their website, it is a little device that covers just the upper or lower front two teeth and its only worn at night to prevent clenching. I was wondering if anyone uses this one?
Next week he's going to do xrays and impressions for me. He showed me this device he uses to measure the mouth and find your correct bite. He raised his eyebrows when I told him about the endodontist and dentist adjusting my bite a number of times. He kept asking if I was tilted back in the chair with my head back and jaw up and also if I just walked in off the street and had it done, that's a big nono. I'll have more info after getting the xrays etc. done next week then I have an appointment to sit down and discuss treatment.

I used the NTI for awhile. It didn't do anything at all to help me. You should also be aware that the NTI is famous for causing an open bite. Did he happen to mention that to you? For me it was a huge waste of money.

Thanks for the reminder, I do remember reading about that and I have an open bite to begin with even though braces years ago were supposed to correct it. The dentist has not actually recommended that for me, he hasn't even looked in my mouth, he's doing xrays, impressions etc. on Wed. then we have a meeting scheduled for Dec. 1 so we can talk about his recommendations. I will definately bring it up about the open bite when I see him on Wed. Thanks again.

I tried the NTI a fews years back while desperate for some relief. I even got a personal email back from the guy who developed it. While he was very sincere, it did nothing for me except cost me a few hundred bucks. I think the NTI is more for people who mainly clench. For me, I clench, but i needed my jaw repositioned. I had better results with a lower splint placed over my teeth, moving my jaw down and forward a bit.
