Question Myofascial Release for TMJ?

I am planning to see a massage therapist who works with Myofascial Release for help with TMJ pain and discomfort.

I have had work done by him on other parts of my body and have had good results.

Has anyone had this done for TMJ?

Re: Myofascial Release for TMJ?

Hi there,
I had myofascial release done and it worked wonders for me. I was great. I had it done as long as insurance would pay and then I paid for more myself until I got better. I am going through a second bout with tmjd and have completed physical therapy again and myofascial release always helped. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Good luck to you! Tina

Re: Myofascial Release for TMJ?

Hi Tina... What were your symptoms? How soon did you notice help with the myofascial Release?

So glad to hear of someone getting help in this way. I haven't gone for my TMJ yet but have had good results with other body parts.

Re: Myofascial Release for TMJ?

I have been going through myofascial release for about 10 visits now. I have noticed some improvement in my headaches and neck aches, but nothing spectacular. I am also doing other exercises and trying to improve posture which seem to also alleviate some symptoms. Some days are better than others

Re: Myofascial Release for TMJ?

I have headaches that resemble the symptoms of a migraine but i know are caused by muscle tightness...the muscles and areas effected are masseters, temporalis, around the mastoid process, and neck related.
